Blue Cross Pet Hospital has been committed to providing outstanding veterinary services to the city of San Francisco since the early 1920s! Located just blocks away from the incredibly beautiful Alamo Square Park. The clinic was originally founded by Dr. J Krom and as the city of San Francisco grew so did Blue Cross Pet Hospital. Other noted veterinarians to practice at Blue Cross Pet Hospital over the years were Dr. H Creely, Dr. M. Simmons, Dr. D. Strohauer and Dr. Sherman Wong.
Blue Cross Pet Hospital Today
Since 2013, Dr. Wonjae Lee has carried on the strong tradition of practicing excellent veterinary medicine for the pets and families of San Francisco. With a warm caring manner and decades of experience, Dr. Lee will always provide your pet with the highest level of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Wonjae Lee
Dr. Lee is a licensed California veterinarian with more than 15 years of practice experience. He earned his veterinary degree from Seoul National University in South Korea and continued his studies at Oklahoma State University, School of Veterinary Medicine.
He joined Blue Cross Pet Hospital in 2009 after practicing in several general and emergency hospitals in Michigan, Oregon and the South Bay. He is an active member of the California Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association
His special interests include preventive medicine, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, dermatology, and geriatric care. He prides himself on providing personalized individual care to each of his patients, treating each as his own. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, cycling, playing tennis and spending quality time with his wife, two kids and his cat, Tuaca.

Dr.Calvin Ho
Dr.Calvin Ho was born in New York and raised on Long Island. He graduated from Northwestern University with a B.A. in Psychology. Afterwards, he attended and graduated from Cummings School of Veterinary School at Tufts University. Dr.Calvin Ho has a special interest in Internal Medicine and Surgery.
has a cat named Zara who currently resides with him in San Francisco. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, attending trivia nights, and exercising at the gym.
Perla N.
Perla joined Blue Cross Pet Hospital in 2019 with 2 years of previous veterinary field experience. She graduated magna cum laude from San Francisco State University with a B.A. in Communication Studies. She also earned an A.S. in Medical Transcription, a Medical Office Assistant certification, and Medical Billing and Coding certification from Skyline College.
Perla has over a decade of hands-on experience working with parrots, reptiles, and fresh water aquariums. She has always loved animals and has a soft spot in her heart for rescues, especially senior animals. Her rescued pets have been an English budgerigar parakeet, a Meyer's parrot, a veiled chameleon, a crested gecko, a betta fish, and a chinchilla. Perla currently has two cats (Lucy & Leo) and in her free time enjoys reading graphic novels, crafting, painting, and the comforts of home.
Amanda V.
Amanda's journey into veterinary care was a natural progression fueled by a lifelong love for animals. Despite studying business, Amanda's heart always gravitated towards our furry friends. Joining Blue Cross Pet Hospital was a deliberate choice, marking the beginning of a fulfilling chapter she has not regretted.
Raised in a home where animals were family, Amanda brings a unique perspective shaped by a lifetime of companionship with various creatures. Currently, her personal family includes a Holland Lop bunny named Jackson Carter.
Beyond the world of veterinary care, Amanda finds joy in exploring new and exciting food places, savoring culinary experiences. Her love for adventure extends to travel, where she enjoys exploring different parts of the world. Amanda's dedication to the well-being of pets is matched by her passion for discovering the diverse wonders the world has to offer. Amanda is thrilled to be part of the BCPH team and shares the same commitment to our furry companions at Blue Cross Pet Hospital.
Ramon H.
Ramon’s passion for animals first started when he was a small child. He always wanted to have animals around him whether they were hamsters, birds, rabbits, fish, dogs-- he loved them all! He had a particular fondness for his family’s chickens in Mexico. He was in charge of feeding them and he enjoyed watching them run. Ramon’s first job at 11 years old was walking his neighbors’ rescue dogs, a Shepherd mix and Terrier mix.
Ramon earned his bachelor’s degree in English at San Francisco State University. He later joined the BCPH team in 2021. Ramon is a San Francisco native, but life’s journey has taken him to Southern California. This, however, did not stop him from continuing to be part of the BCPH Team. He continues to be a valuable member of the BCPH team by providing clerical support remotely. During his free time, Ramon enjoys spending quality time with his partner, family, friends, and his 3-year-old French bulldog, Truly.
Lily Z.
Lily was born and raised in San Francisco and grew up with 2 Budgerigar (parakeets) named Lemon and Lime. She did not grow up with any cats or dogs in her home. However, through friends, family members, and neighbors she was able to enjoy the presence of cats and dogs. She decided to pursue a career path in the veterinary field and graduated with a B.S. in Animal Science from UC Davis.
Lily joined Blue Cross Pet Hospital to gain experience working with animals and people in a veterinary clinic environment. She has excelled in reception and is now gaining experience as a veterinary assistant. She hopes to become a veterinarian in the future with an interest in specializing in animal nutrition. In her free time, Lily enjoys watching movies, playing video games, and trying out new places to eat. She currently has no pets but would like to adopt a few cats in the future. Cats hold a special place in her heart and she is a firm believer that you can’t just have one cat!
Gaby H.
Gaby is a San Francisco native who grew up in a household with different types of animals such as dogs, cats, and birds. At one point, her family also owned fish, frogs, and a leopard gecko! Additionally, she admires wildlife with a particular fondness and admiration towards jaguars and black panthers.
Gaby joined BCPH in hopes of gaining experience in the veterinary field. She is an extremely quick learner and is a wonderful asset to the BCPH team. She is eager to continue learning and working closely with cats and dogs. She is excited to have a future career in the veterinary field.In her spare time, Gaby enjoys making jewelry such as earrings, charm bracelets, and keychains. In addition, Gaby creates colorful abstract and scenic paintings. She loves nature and cherishes going on hikes to disconnect from city life. Gaby likes escaping into nature with her two loving goofy fur babies named Gucci & Chanelly, who love to run and get covered in dirt!
Jessica C.
Jessica grew up in the Bay Area and has spent countless hours working with animals including exotics, wildlife, and companion animals. At the California Academy of Sciences, she cares for snakes, frogs, fish, and invertebrates in the rainforest exhibit every week. Through her internship at Wildcare, she has provided medical care to turtles, owls, songbirds, squirrels, deer, pigeons, opossums, and more. She also volunteers at her local animal shelter walking the dogs, and socializing the cats and rabbits.
Jessica is happiest when spending time with her fluffy, feathery, or sometimes slimy friends! She earned her bachelor’s degree in Molecular Environmental Biology at UC Berkeley in hopes of pursuing a career as a scientist but soon realized that her true passion lies with animals. In her free time, Jessica enjoys visiting aquariums, taking walks in nature to watch birds, playing video games, journaling, collecting cute stationery and trinkets, and of course, spending time with her tuxedo cat Tuna (a silly and energetic troublemaker) and her black cat Seaweed (a sweet black void that’s always hungry).
Isabella Y.
Born and raised in San Francisco’s vibrant Chinatown, Isabella developed a deep love for animals early on. Surrounded by supermarket cats and the playful kitties at local convenience stores, her passion for furry companions grew stronger. At just 10 years old, she adopted her first cat, and by 15, she knew her calling was clear—she would dedicate her life to caring for animals.
Isabella's journey into the medical field began in 2024 when she joined BCPH as an intern. She is currently pursuing her degree in Veterinary Technology at Carrington College, with aspirations of becoming a registered veterinary technician. Isabella hopes to specialize in shelter and emergency medicine, where she can make a meaningful impact on animals in need. In her free time, Isabella enjoys discovering new food spots, traveling, practicing lion dancing, and spending quality time with her two beloved cats, Soybean and Black Bean.
Adriana H.
Adriana was raised in San Francisco where her love for animals began at an early age. Growing up, her house was filled with hamsters, birds, fish, cats, bunnies, turtles, and snakes. Adriana's first experience with animal care started at an animal shelter, where she gained experience in husbandry and medications. It was there that her spark for veterinary medicine was ignited and her determination to build a career in the field took hold.
Adriana's journey into veterinary medicine began when she joined a veterinary hospital as a receptionist. Through patience, dedication, and a natural ability to learn quickly, she earned the opportunity to transition into a veterinary assistant role. She has developed a particular passion for dental cleaning procedures and takes great pride in providing attentive care while pets are under general anesthesia. Adriana believes that each pet is a beloved family member who deserves individualized attention. Driven by a desire to keep learning and growing, Adriana has recently been accepted into a Registered Veterinary Technician program.
Adriana currently shares her home with her 6-year-old Dutch Shepherd, Poppa, her 3-year-old cat, Shadow, and her 3-year-old corn snake, Xena. In her spare time, she loves taking Poppa to the beach or park and enjoys outdoor adventures with her family, including biking, camping, skiing, and swimming. She has also recently taken up gardening and is learning how to DJ.
